GO healthy challenge

November 17, 2011 § 8 Comments

And… it happened again. Yesteday I skipped one day off running. As I’ve told you before, 2 rest days a week should be enough. That means 5 active days and no excuses. Since I started working at Fashiolista this has been something more like… oh, it’s Friday! And the last time that I ran was before LAST weekend. Go figure. Of course this has a reasonable explanation, I’ve been working ’til late, preferably followed by events like this, this and this one. Oh, and when I come home I have a house, a boyfriend, a puppy, and oh yes, the blog that you’re reading right now. The lights in my apartment don’t go off before 1.30AM, if lucky. So I don’t even put the alarm at 6 o’clock to go for a run. 4 hours of sleep = no 10 km run. And it’s kind of too dark and cold outside at 11/12PM to go running every night, although I’ve used it as an extreme measure.

Second thing that went down; food. When people at your work start calling you jelly beans monster and you consider Starbucks muffins a meal, there you have it. You’re not healthy. Not talking about skinny or fat, just that you’re probably eating a ton of crap. And I’m not going on a diet or anything, I mean, I (almost) never post outfit pictures so, why bother?

Well, for all of this, and because I don’t want to end up in The Biggest Loser’s next season, starting today there’s some safety measures being taken. Such as, no more jelly beans, cupcakes, cakes, chocolate, candy, waffles, ice cream and all kind of sugary delicious stuff. Reduction of all the big carbohydrate consumption to once a day, and adding green stuff to my plate. You know, vegetables. No more excuses to skip days off working out and back to the old 6AM-9PM schedule.

It’s not easy to switch back to the old good stuff, but I least I am going to give it a shot.

Just in | ASOS and Maradam

November 17, 2011 § 13 Comments

This morning I just realized how lucky I am. First, I got another package from ASOS with something I purchased a couple days ago, and then there was the sweetest letter you can imagine. My friend Saray from Barcelona is also a blogger and illustrator, besides being amazing and gorgeous, and she just thought about me and sent me a special drawing.

Do you recognize me?

Check out Saray’s work here and start following her!

Quick update!

November 16, 2011 § 1 Comment

If you are a good follower, you must have noticed that there has been some hazzle going on here. The blog is being completely re-done on my own host and domain, but it takes its time. All I can say is the moment you expect it the least, Mar|Adam will have changed completely; header, theme, and everything included in between. All this thanks to the magic of Michiel, who’s basically doing everything for me!

Keep tuned if you don’t want to miss a thing

Diary | Fashiolista takes over

November 11, 2011 § 7 Comments

Dear readers,

you might have noticed that the blog/my twitter have been a little quite lately with very few updates. Well, now you’ll know why. It’s been crazy hectic at the Fashiolista HQ lately; not only PRess Days, our own Feedback Friday session with bloggers, we were nominated -and won!- the Accenture Award 2011 yesterday and so many more exciting little things I can’t tell you about! Due to that, I’ve been focusing on work instead of Social Media friends.

If you want to take a little part of where I work and see what I’m up to daily follow me on the Fashiolista blog, where I am a Blog Editor and on the Fashiolista Facebook page, where I collaborate.

And keep tuned in here!!! A giveaway, item of the week, and outfit posts (I know how much you’ve asked them!) coming up in the weekend!

Rise to fame

8 AM in the morning. I turn my laptop on and I check my e-mail while I open Facebook, Twitter and Bloglovin’ on different tabs. Let’s start with Facebook; I remember the time it used to be me and my friends posting embarrassing photos of the weekend. Now it’s all about liking brands’ pages to win je-ne-sais-quoi and trying to figure out what’s the real name behind The Fashion Toast (Rumi what?). I mean, I am even subscribed to Jessica Alba’s feed.

Twitter is no different. Re-tweet and win, check my last outfit post, enter my giveaway. Nobody talks about friends and family anymore. Luckily enough, sometimes I get to see people’s pets.

Back to Bloglovin’. 8.20 AM. 155 unread posts. Some bloggers updated their blog three times while I was sleeping. It was just a 4 hours (Spanish) nap. Most common updates: outfit of the day, Sunday inspiration, Diary of the week, Versace x H&M. You know, the usual.

The point is, I check hundreds of blogs on a daily basis, mostly because of my job, second because I have little to no life. I don’t even know the name of my favorite bloggers. Sometimes I can’t remember, sometimes it’s just Sarah. With so many blogs around, we better do something big to get noticed, otherwise we’re just a bunch of casual updates that 50 people a day come across, very randomly.

But, what makes a blog a blogger to remember? For the people starting out, it’s just long skinny legs, designer bags and pictures taken by, at least, photography students. Or personal assistants, it all depends on your page views.

If I have 200+ posts on my daily read queue I expect them to be at least entertaining. If I want to see beautiful girls in beautiful clothes I better buy myself some VOGUE. If I want to see girls advertising products, I can reach them after the late hour shows. I want something that makes me remember them. Oh yeah, it’s Hanneli Mustaparta.

I want shy girls that become superwomen behind a freaking Macbook at Starbucks, a la Carrie -yes, I had to add some cliche. I want something that makes me wonder what’s the face behind the blog, where does all this come from and why.

What moves you?

Diary | Week 44

Better late than never

Here is what I have been up to these past two weeks! A little overdose of Ohana, but I can’t really help it! Sushi with Joyce, a new pair of sunglasses, Starbucks (obvious) overdose, on the look for a new Lomo camera, Bo‘s birthday cake, a lot of Fashiolista action including a lovely Feedback meeting with users…  What can I say. Never a dull moment.

Contest | Aussie Angel

November 4, 2011 § 17 Comments

Wanna be an Aussie Angel?

The other day I read on Coco Rosa‘s blog that there was a contest going on by Aussie, which was recently introduced to the Dutch public. The contest has been going on for a few months I believe but it’s still open until March 2012, when the Final takes place. Every month there’s a possibility to be “Aussie Angel of the month” and that girl gets a big goodie bag with Aussie’s products and becomes one of the 20 finalists directly. Because my mum can’t vote a thousand times for me, I am asking you lovely readers to do something for a good deal!

All you have to do is visit my Aussie profile here and click on Stem (vote in Dutch). They will send you an e-mail to confirm and that’s done. And then you get a big virtual kiss from me.

Where Am I?
