GET THE LOOK | Two tone jumper

November 21, 2011 § 13 Comments

Etoile Isabel Marant Mati Mohair-Blend sweater, $335 / ASOS two tone knit jumper, €46.96

To make things clear, I love Isabel Marant. Especially her line Etoile Isabel Marant. But the label tags have so many digits it makes me go cry in a corner. So, I’ve been browsing and browsing trying to find something similar for at least 1/4 of the price. And there you got it, it’s not Mohair but it’s good while I save… Thank you again, ASOS.

GO healthy challenge

November 17, 2011 § 8 Comments

And… it happened again. Yesteday I skipped one day off running. As I’ve told you before, 2 rest days a week should be enough. That means 5 active days and no excuses. Since I started working at Fashiolista this has been something more like… oh, it’s Friday! And the last time that I ran was before LAST weekend. Go figure. Of course this has a reasonable explanation, I’ve been working ’til late, preferably followed by events like this, this and this one. Oh, and when I come home I have a house, a boyfriend, a puppy, and oh yes, the blog that you’re reading right now. The lights in my apartment don’t go off before 1.30AM, if lucky. So I don’t even put the alarm at 6 o’clock to go for a run. 4 hours of sleep = no 10 km run. And it’s kind of too dark and cold outside at 11/12PM to go running every night, although I’ve used it as an extreme measure.

Second thing that went down; food. When people at your work start calling you jelly beans monster and you consider Starbucks muffins a meal, there you have it. You’re not healthy. Not talking about skinny or fat, just that you’re probably eating a ton of crap. And I’m not going on a diet or anything, I mean, I (almost) never post outfit pictures so, why bother?

Well, for all of this, and because I don’t want to end up in The Biggest Loser’s next season, starting today there’s some safety measures being taken. Such as, no more jelly beans, cupcakes, cakes, chocolate, candy, waffles, ice cream and all kind of sugary delicious stuff. Reduction of all the big carbohydrate consumption to once a day, and adding green stuff to my plate. You know, vegetables. No more excuses to skip days off working out and back to the old 6AM-9PM schedule.

It’s not easy to switch back to the old good stuff, but I least I am going to give it a shot.

Diary | Falling in fall

November 9, 2011 § 17 Comments

Since Fall really started kicking in I’ve had a flu feeling going on. My head feels like it’s about to explode, I don’t want to wear anything besides knits and double layers of scarfs and I’m even more addicted to too-hot coffee cups from Starbucks. My neighborhood is looking lovely these days tho, with all the trees changing leaves and the streets packed with all kind of colors. The perfect time of the year for online shopping I guess… And I can’t wait for the packages to get home! Is Fall getting to you yet?

Inspiration

Photo | Prabal Gurung's FW 11/12 campaign shot by Daniel Jackson

Lately I’ve had 0 inspiration whatsoever to get dressed in the morning. The cold, the rain and the foggy skies just make me want to crawl back in bed and forget about getting outside.

Usually people call wardrobe inspiration what they see in magazines, other blogs, movies, ad campaigns... A picture is worth a 1000 words, they say. But what really is motivating me to play with my clothes in the early morning is music. That’s why I’ve put together an iTunes playlist with the music used in the FW11 Fashion Shows. ‘Album’ is the Fashion Show the song was featured in.

My favorites have to be Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung and Miu Miu.

Fitness | Why don’t Fashion girls run?

October 17, 2011 § 2 Comments

Looking back at my week (fitness wise) I’ve been bad. Very bad. My usual work-out schedule is 5-6 days active, 1 rest. This past week was 3 active, 4 rest, which, let me tell you, is very inappropriate. But why didn’t I exercise as per usual? Of course I have my excuses, we all do. Monday was my official rest day, Tuesday I had a work dinner, Wednesday I wasn’t feeling well and Friday night I was at Elite Model Look Finale.

Putting aside being sick, which is 100% acceptable, Wednesday and Friday I skipped my runs because I was too busy socializing. Needless to say, I had an amazing time both nights but when it comes down to results, two fun nights equal not enough mileage by the end of the week.

Fitness | Run today

September 30, 2011 § 3 Comments

I didn’t want to run today. I’ve been having a very lazy week overall and it’s taking me lots of effort to move and get outside with my sneakers on. Going to work, okay. Going for a sweat fest, not really in the mood. Maybe my body is kind of still distracted and somewhere else right now but it’s not moving or willing to. As I already skipped my work-out twice (max. permitted) this week, I had to go for a  run jog today. 7.45 AM, business men piling on the tram/metro stop; Laura wearing fuchsia running shirt and not-so-friendly face.

It was a hard jog. 10 minutes per km and 5 for a half km. I couldn’t do anymore. My legs didn’t want to go any further so I sprinted home to stretch, shower and forget about it.

I know some people have different running peeps, like always running the same route, (for long runs) eating at the same miles, wearing a charm or something… My only peep is that I always cover at least 2.4k, in every run/jog. No matter what, I have to at least do 2.4; less than 2.4 is not really a lot. Although I consider every 2.4 ride a short one, at least I feel like I did something. Oh, and a second peep would be keep running/exercising when you think you can’t do anymore (that’s why the 2.5km).

After the bad run, I had time to walk to Starbucks to get me some coffee (didn’t drink a single drop the whole week -trying to cut off caffeine intake, should do the same with carbs). Now it’s a happy morning.

I updated my Fitness Log and Dailymile with both yesterday’s and today’s work-outs. What do you think? What’s your work-out routine?

Where Am I?
