Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Last Friday night I had the pleasure to attend the Final for the Elite Model Look contest to find the next Dutch supermodel; think Doutzen Kroes, Kim Feenstra and Lara Stone. The event was celebrated in the Stadsschouwburg, a theater in the heart of the Amsterdam, which was the perfect location to host the contest. Every important face from the Dutch fashion scene was present, from Grazia’s Editor in Chief Hilmar Mulder, to top stylists Bastiaan Van Schaik and Danie Bles, Nikkie Plessen, Mariana Verkerk, Patricia van der Vliet and last year’s winner, Lucette van Beek.
Only 12 girls made it into the final after being selected from over a thousand girls that went to the castings. The prize: a contract with Elite Model Management Amsterdam and representing the Netherlands in the Elite Model Worldwide Final in Shanghai, China.
The final included 5 catwalk rounds including lingerie by Sam Friday Intimates, Tony Cohen‘s designs and ending with the 70s inspired couture collection by Frans Molenaar.
The winner was Lieke van Houten, a 14 years old stunning girl that reminds me of Rianne ten Haken and Rose Whiteley Huntington. She received the prize from the host of the contest, Nienke van Eck and Michaela Goddard, International director of Scouting Elite World.
The afterparty hosted by NL Confidential had the Sophisticated 70s as theme and it was great fun to see some of the attendees’ ensembles.
