Sea’s gift
What an amazing setting for a runway show. Chanel follows Versace and Givenchy on the undersea adventure.
The amount of money spent on setting on every runway show in the Maison Chanel is always commented; some will say that is indeed what makes Chanel related to Show and some think that the scenario saves an unexciting collection. As for me, no one does a set like Chanel.
Karl Lagerfeld delivered a cold pastel theme filled with airy clothes, cream on cream, green-ish pantone and fantastic sea inhabitants bags (think shells and seaweed). There was also time to feature leather pants in clashing white, long pearls necklaces and silver flat booties. Chanel is known for extensive collections but this underwater show went specially long as it featured every piece possible, from short leather jackets to PVC blazers and gowns.
The sexiest of them all was them swimwear, with strategic cut-offs on long legged tops, and the most punishing would be the shoes, Karl can’t seem to get them right season after season. The invitees to the Grand Palais location were delighted by the music of Florence performing live from inside a shell.
